Glitter Words

Being an eMINTS classroom, we always have something exciting going on in room 107.  With one computer for every two students, students in room 107 use 21st century skills on a daily basis.  You might think that I teach technology in room 107, however that is the furthest from the truth.  I actually teach reading, communication arts, and social studies, but have the fantastic opportunity to teach these subjects with technology.  We invite you to take a look around and see the results of the hard work and exploration that goes on in our classroom.

Current project:  Students are researching leading candidates President Obama will select from for the Supreme Court Justice opening as a result of Justice Souter's retirement in June.  They started with a belief statement of ideals they feel strongly about and things they want to accomplish as President of the United States.  Once students research candidates, they must decide and write about which candidate they will recommend to the Senate.  The recommendations must include compelling evidence and details of why this candidate is best suited for the position.  The evidence and details must also align with their belief statement.  See the full webquest here.
